Week 16: Avocado

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

The Adventures of Potty Training

Jack is a potty champ, I tell you!

There were no accidents ALL the way down to Tampa (or back) - but there were indeed a couple mishaps.

We left early (4am) in the morning on Wednesday to hit up Busch Gardens before joining the rest of the family in St. Petersburg. Jack woke up in his pj's and pull-up in his car seat around 630am when we stopped for an on-the-road breakfast. He plowed through his chicken biscuit and milk. Not long after, Jack was squirming, complaining about his tummy. We had him shake his legs as we thought he had some gas; but he still whined. I split a Tums with him; but he still whined. Around 8am, we stopped to he could walk his 'gas' pains out. The minute he stood up out of his car seat, he screamed, "I HAVE TO GO FOTTY!!!!"

That explains his tummy pains. And THIS would be a parenting mishap.

Tantrums

What would happen if I did this when I wasn't getting my way? I might have to try it at work and see what happens ...

Jackisms

"Jack, what's in your belly?"
"A baby."
"Oh really? What kind of baby?"
"A poop baby."
